AustriAlpin Cobra GT in all it’s glory on the VX42 Mission Attache by Greenroom136

AustriAlpin Cobra GT in all it’s glory on the VX42 Mission Attache by Greenroom136

FOREWORD

Greenroom136 is a Malaysia based independent bag company founded by Patrick Lim in 2011. Patrick’s passion to create awesome products was so strong that he quit his full-time job and started up a bag workshop that allowed him to make his dream a reality. That tiny room where it all started has inspired the brand name.

Now, almost a decade later, Greenroom136 is setting a high bar in bag customization and continues to disrupt the industry with simple, but extremely well thought out products that quickly became a legend in the carry community.

QUALITY & COMFORT

The choice of materials is seriously badass and confidence- inspiring. The bag is not afraid to be abused and does not need handling with care. The #10 YKK zippers are a joy to use and silky smooth to open/close.

Carrying the bag is also very comfortable thanks to a well-padded, wide shoulder strap with a quick-release buckle.

Mission Attache offers excellent padding on the back of the bag which is made of a high-quality mesh and feels super comfortable against my body.

Active bag or a brief for a business meeting. The bag can do it all.

ORGANIZATION

Do not underestimate the capacity of 13L, roomy main compartment has a surprising amount of volume to store your laptop, pouches, some clothing, etc. The second compartment is less generous but still fits my EDC and can also fit up to a 15-inch laptop in case you prefer to have it not against your back but closer to the front of the bag.

Both main and front compartments have a decent amount of organization thanks to  pockets inside. Great for storing your wallet, laptop charger, snack, etc. The front compartment has 2 slots for pens.

Patrick has incorporated an ingeniously hidden pocket behind the back padding. After using it for a while to store my phone, passport, the wallet I got so used to it that I wish all bag companies included such pockets. Also, unlike most of the hidden pockets, the one on Mission Attache is not small but gives an entire padding area at your disposal to store flat objects (anything with volume would be felt against your back)

Very deep hidden pocket. It could have been used for external access of up to 13 -inch MBP.

WHAT’S HOT

  • Amazing materials and build quality, durability to weight ratio is brilliant

  • Outstanding customization through Custom bag maker

  • Very comfortable nicely padded strap

  • Reliable and fun to use a quick-release system with AustriAlpin Cobra GT buckle

  • Plenty of space to carry EDC and still have room to spare

  • #10 YKK zippers have a very nice feel to them and joy to use

  • Hidden pocket behind the back padding is very handy

  • Excellent value for money

  • Included removable laptop sleeve

WHAT’S NOT

  • If I had to pick my least favorite thing about the bag it would be the removable laptop sleeve. Personally,  the VX version does not go well with Corduroy and I would love to see other options for the sleeve lining. But even more so I don’t like using the sleeve as it takes up a considerable amount of space in the main compartment and gets in the way of the water bottle (secured in the custom inner pocket).

  • The inner lining is dark grey and does not offer much visibility (I would love to see more options for the lining material/color in the custom bag maker)

  • The top grab handles get in a way of the front zipper (Having a magnet in each handle would be an awesome solution to keep them together and also not interfere with zippers)

  • Lack of the dedicated laptop/tablet pocket (as mentioned above the removable sleeve is too bulky, I would personally prefer something built-in or an option in the bag maker for dedicated laptop pocket.)

WRAP UP

It’s hard to find a bag with a better value than Mission Attache (standard starts at ~$110 and custom VX42 starts at ~$125). The bag checks all the essential boxes of awesomeness - build quality, comfort, organization, value. Mission Attache shines in many scenarios - as an EDC, compact travel bag, diaper bag, etc.  and can easily switch from the getaway in the jungle to business meeting thanks to its ruggedness and superior comfort and yet simple, universal design.

Greenroom136 is a small company that has tremendous potential. It is built on enthusiasm and an extremely ethical way of doing business and I hope more people would choose their products over generic no-names produced by mass-market companies only obsessed about their bottom line.
